METHODOLOGY FOR THE ANALYSIS OF MOBILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY IN UNIVERSITIES

Knowing the preferences of users, the demand for transport and the quality of this service, in addition to the facilities for travel, is essential to make effective decisions. Universities, due to the diversity of functions they perform and services they provide within societies, generate high rates of mobility. This has a negative impact on the functioning of the universities, making it necessary to improve, order and control pedestrian and vehicular access. In Cuba, studies related to the transit and mobility of people are periodically carried out, however, universities have been exempt from many of these analyzes. This article proposes a methodology for the analysis and study of accessibility and mobility in Cuban universities located in semi-urban areas. The methodology is composed of five phases that help to plan, diagnose and characterize accessibility and mobility. The methodology has a qualitative approach that addresses the needs of the users and a quantitative one that analyzes the physical conditions of the study area and the traffic. For the validation, was taken as a case study the Technological University of Havana “José Antonio Echeverría” (CUJAE).
