Abstract

This article offers a vitally important instrument for road engineering and professionals involved in the design or revision of pavements with low traffic volumes in the province of Manabí. The work presents a catalog of predefined pavement sections, developed from an empirical-mechanistic approach through which the necessary layer thicknesses of the structural package are determined, taking into account: traffic, bearing capacity of the soil and the characterization of the materials. To obtain the different variants, the ALIZE - LCPC version 1.2.0 software was used, which constituted a tool that allowed obtaining the response of the different structural packages. In the work several design factors were evaluated trying to collect all the possible alternatives in the province; the resistance of the subgrade was varied (CBR < 3%; from 4% to 6%; from 7% to 9% and 10%) and the traffic levels from 0-150 (EEq x 1000); 150 -300 (EEq x 1000); 300-500 (EEq x 1000) and 500-700 (EEq x 1000). As a practical result, a catalog was established with structural solutions for the design of construction projects or rehabilitation of low-volume traffic roads in the region.
