Abstract

This article is based on the study of the behavior of base layers with gravel-cement, having as a starting point the use of the Class 1A Base material obtained from the Megarock quarry, to which granulometry, limits, Proctor and CBR tests were prepared. to check its quality; Subsequently, 5 percentages of cement are added from 4% to 8% to obtain the required compressive strength at 3, 7, 14 and 28 days established by the Current Ecuadorian Standards. For the evaluation of the pavement layers, the mechanistic empirical model was used, analyzing the tangential stress in the base layer, the vertical deformation in the subgrade and in the bituminous mixture, as it is a semi-rigid pavement; this with the help of the software ALIZE-LPC version 1.2.0. The work also considers the characteristics of traffic and types of subgrade soils existing in the city of Portoviejo in such a way that three levels of traffic from 10x106EEq to 5x106EEq were taken into consideration; from 5x106 EEq to 5x105 EEq and < 5x105 EEq, and in turn four categories of subgrade (CBR = < 3%; from 4% to 6%; from 7% to 9% and 10%) From which, finally, various thicknesses are obtained. Base that meet all the established parameters, depending on the characteristics of the canton and with the different cement contents in the mix.
