Abstract

This study investigates the influence of the modulus of foundation reaction on the stress state of rigid pavements using EverFE 2.26, a simulation program based on the finite element method. Rigid pavements, essential for road infrastructure, require a detailed analysis of the interaction between vehicular loads and foundation support to optimize their design and prolong their service life. By simulating different loading scenarios and variations in the modulus of foundation reaction, tensile stresses at the bottom of the pavement slab were evaluated. The results show that a stiffer foundation reduces the critical stresses, thus improving the durability of the pavement, and the calculated stresses do not represent a significant stress state that would cause fatigue in the proposed slab, since the maximum tensile stress value does not exceed the Modulus of Rupture limit of the concrete. The research concludes that an accurate adjustment of the modulus of reaction is crucial to minimize stresses and avoid premature deterioration of the pavement.
