Abstract

The main objective of the research arises from the need to analyze the levels of service and the relationship between volume and road capacity of road sections entering the city of Machala by calculating the HCM 2010 manual and checking the data using the software aimun simulation. The process to be carried out begins with a vehicle capacity, which obtains data such as speeds and vehicle classification, then the data is processed, preparing maximum demand variation tables to obtain the hourly volume of maximum demand and the hourly factor of maximum demand for the subsequent use of the Velocity-Flow Curve chart for service levels. Complying with this process, the results are detailed below: La Vía Pajonal obtained a level of service A, Avenida Bolívar Madero Vargas a level of service C, in Avenida Colon Tinoco, Ferroviaria, Vía la Primavera and June 25, levels of service B, these results were verified with the simulations carried out in Aimsun. The relationship between Volume-capacity of the roads was obtained where Av. 25 de Junio, Av. Bolívar Madero Vargas and Vía la Primavera obtained values of v/c equal to 23%, while the rest of the revenues remain at values per less than 20% of its capacity.
