Abstract

The canalized traffic light intersection that currently operates at the entrance to Varadero, having completed its design period, begins to show features of congestion in its operation. The current growth values of the tourist economy and those expected in the future have an impact on the accommodation capacity of the traffic that will be exceeded by the increase in its intensity, so it is necessary to determine an efficient solution to be applied in the critical future moment. Through an analysis prior to the investigation, the semi-directional uneven intersection solution has been identified as an applicable variant to solve current and future traffic problems. Once the Traffic Engineering studies have been carried out, the hypothesis of the collapse of the road infrastructure at that point is demonstrated, and after having recognized the elements of the interchange model to be used, and having selected the most functional variant, the -dimensioning the exchange as a whole, giving an image treatment according to the Varadero façade to the world. Upon obtaining the general scheme of the most efficient semi-directional uneven intersection for the Varadero entry junction, the Conceptual Solution phase of the project has been completed, also incorporating advanced modeling and digital representation tools that provide a detailed description of the finished model.
