Abstract

The Mario Muñoz sugar plant located in the municipality Los Arabos, of the Cuban province of Matanzas, is one of the main producers of sugar and fine honey in the province. As part of the technical improvement in 2018 the technical department of the plan requested the University of Matanzas to evaluate a concrete base for machinery. To carry out the evaluation, a numerical model was built in SAP2000 software. In the model, the loads product the vibration as well as the permanent load were analyzed. A Steady State analysis was used to analyze loads produced by vibration. The analysis concluded that the critical loads for the base are the dynamic loads, from a motor frequency of 2 Hz that exceeds the breaking stress of the concrete of the base, but only superficially, it is not until the frequency reaches 240 rpm (4 Hz) that the stresses exceed the limits at greater depths, therefore it is concluded that the foundation bases are not suitable to withstand higher frequencies.
