The present study analyzes the influence of RAP material as a stabilizing agent in a breeding soil, with the aim of increasing its bearing capacity and evaluating its technical, environmental and economic viability in road applications. For which laboratory tests were carried out that include particle size analysis, Atterberg limits, modified Proctor and CBR that was considered with different percentages of RAP, with respect to the dry weight of the natural material.
Laboratory tests were carried out that included granulometric analysis, Atterberg limits, modified proctor and CBR, which was considered with different percentages of RAP, with respect to the dry weight of the natural material.
The results of the tests show that adding RAP to the natural material significantly improves its mechanical properties. With respect to the bearing capacity, the CBR increased from 22,7% to 37,2% with the incorporation of 40% of RAP, representing a notable increase in its resistance.
This research allowed us to determine that the adequate percentage of RAP for the benefit of the mixture is between 30-40%, since it provides the highest value of increase in CBR without affecting other properties of the material. With these values, the stabilized material meets the requirements established by the AASTHO regulations for use as a sub-base in flexible pavement structures.
